Internet Explorer Users at Risk for Attacks!
Warning all Internet Explorer users! You could be at risk! Apparently, IE 6, 7, 8 and 9 have vulnerabilities that make them a target of the zero-day exploit that compromises computers by just visiting a malicious website. When this happens, the attacker could have the same privilege as the current user of the PC; meaning the hacker could totally take over your computer!
Microsoft already knows about this security problem that was first
reported on Monday and the company has provided some means to prevent an
attack to users. According to them, Internet Explorer 10 is not affected by the problem so switching to that would be a good thing.
Another option that is open to IE users is the use of Microsoft’s Enhanced Mitigation experience Toolkit (EMET) 3.0. This program sets off a variety of security functions that makes a computer harder to exploit.
But since the problem is not fixed yet, switching to other Web browsers is also recommended by computer experts. There’s Chrome and Firefox that have proven their reliable performance. This is ideal at least until the problem is fixed completely.
